As
the name suggest, sump pumps means that pump is pumping liquid or minerals from
the sump pit/reservoir that keeps the basement dry by pumping the liquid out of
the pit, it also keep the basement’s humidity down, protect items in basement
storage and also reducing the risk of mold and mildew growth. It is basically a
low pressure pump which moves water from one location to another one. A
portable Sump Pump is typically used for
places which are infrequently flood. They are the most inexpensive type of sump
pump which can easily clean up small floods
How Sump Pumps Work?
This is a switch similar
to that of a switch used in analog thermostats. More or less it is an automatic
sensor based system. When the module is upright in the fluid at that time automatically
the switch gets ON. It slowly falls as the fluid level goes down and eventually
the switch goes OFF. When the pit is completely empty that moment only the
switch gets off. Mostly it will be operated using electricity and in absence of
electricity we can use battery powered back-up pump so that it can be operated
in absence of electricity also.
Electric Water Pump:
As bare eyes can’t
distinguish between the real and the reel one, like that by appearance we can’t
differentiate between Electric Water Pump &
sump pump. But the task performed by both is different. Technically it is a
coolant and anti-freeze pump. Usually it is used to remove sewages from your
home.
The installation and maintenance of both the
pump is not that much tough and for maximum safety it must be connected to
ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI).
